for tonight, the topic for discussion would be sellouts. artist sellouts i mean. music artist.

with that sentence i mean, people who sell out their own identity just to get more popularity. the first scapegoat i will bring out would be one of my old favourites. they are a band of mixed race and members possess quirky personalities. originally, they had three members but signed up their only female member after a couple of unsuccessful albums.

the band is called The Black Eyed Peas.

why do i label them so? think about it. back in the day when an american son attacked the same city his father did. This wonderful band wrote the song of peace-loving and humanitarian meaning. "where is the love"

that was a song that virtually preached peace to the listeners' ears.

"people killing, people dying, children hurt u hear them crying. can u practice wad u preach? or would u turn the other cheek"

they traded such meaningful lyrics which was coupled with a catchy tune for something which goes:

"my humps, my humps my humps my humps. my lovely lady lumps. my humps they got u screaming"

where's the sense in that? someone tell me please. i'm not sayin that a band should stick to just one type of music writing (in this case, peace loving music). but the change in the songs are just TOO DRASTIC.

i think the change is as good as seeing U2 performing "your body is a wonderland" out of the blue.

another FINE example is Nelly Furtado. haha i almost spelt it natalie furtody

back in the day when tapered wasn't the 'in' thing in the mat community, furtado portrayed a fun-loving image. up till her Folklore album. her current album, she ditched her happy hippy image for a man-eating sexed up version.

i don't mind the change. but just one question. why did she ditch her fans who helped her throughout her HIPPY period for botox-injected anorexic fans. who probably dig her fashion sense more than her vocal capabilities.
